Hey, I’m Sarah Todd, a Fashion BA student living in York, studying my degree at York College. My blog shows actions from my Foundation Degree which i graduated from in July 2011. It progresses heavily in to my level 6 work produced during the time in which i will be completing my BA. Below i have listed the exciting modules and activities you will be able to look through on my blog…
Module 1: working for a client…The Yorkshire Museum
- With a theme of Medieval York (project title TBC)
- an independent, self-negotiated brief in which students are expected to write their own statement of intent, outlining pieces for production.
- the only thing set in stone is for a garment to be produced for and exhibited in the museum.
- my statement of intent includes:
- The garment!!!
- A textile and process book
- A CAD produced design and concept portfolio (including Story board, Final board, Statement of intent and 10 Design developments)
- A mini moulage book
Module 2: Preparing for the real world!!!
- building professional business knowledge, contacts and CV skills is a fundamental part of this course, as this time next I will be in my first job within the bustling Fashion industry, or slowing working my way in to it!
- Building contacts – this will be pleaters, printers, embroiderers, fabric and harbedashery stores and other general textile based contacts. Through my present and future work and work experience i will produce a valuable list of contacts also.
- Business knowledge. Building a general knowledge by using business templates offered by banks for example and by other websites, will prepare me along with producing notes on other areas if i ever consider setting up my own label or selling within a store.
Module 3: Fashion Proposal
- a module within another….producing a visual diary and a statement of intent, both reflecting over my final collection for Foundation Degree and preparing for my final collection for BA.
Module 4: Final Collection!!!!!
- scary times, final collection for BA needs to be fabulous, i will make sure it is just that!!…here are my initial ideas!!!….
- La dolce vita, all things glamorous, luxurious and italiano, during the 50s and 60s!
